If you live near Riverside, CA you might want to finish up your security guard training relatively soon. CBS Los Angeles reports that the City of Riverside is considering a proposal to hire more private, unarmed security guards to patrol city parks. This represents an opportunity.
If the proposal passes the city would be hiring for 13 parks that have seen increased criminal activity.
The proposal is by no means a slam dunk. The news report certainly makes it clear that the plan has its opponents. But you’ll want to be ready anyway, and you’ll want to stay on top of this news so that you can leap on opportunities as they arise.
That’s not to say that you want to wait on putting in any applications. It is probably best to have some applications in place in anticipation of an upcoming hiring need. Once the proposal passes many of the important decisions may already have been made.
Staying on top of these kinds of stories can give you a solid edge during your job search.
